BENEFITING: Now I Lay Me Down To Sleep
On July 24th, 2014, at almost 38 weeks along, I went to the hospital because our baby boy had stopped moving that morning. I had just been to a routine check-up two days prior, and everything was perfectly fine. At the hospital, we were told that our baby had died. Labor was induced and he was born sleeping 22hrs later at 12:18PM on July 25th, 2014. Colson Matthew Price was 5lbs 10oz, 21 1/2in long, and absolutely gorgeous. He had passed away as a result of an umbilical cord accident. The cord was wrapped twice around his neck and had a knot in it. As Colson's first birthday approaches, I wanted to raise money for a nonprofit in his name. The nonprofit that I chose is Now I Lay Me Down To Sleep (NILMDTS). NILMDTS offers remembrance photography. They provide thousands of families of babies who are stillborn, or are at risk of dying as newborns, with free professional portraits with their baby. NILMDTS trains, educates, and mobilizes professional quality photographers to provide beautiful heirloom portraits to families facing the untimely death of an infant. We had some pictures of Colson that were taken by the nurses and some on our cell phones. We sent these to NILMDTS and they retouched them for us for free. They were so nice to talk to and extremely compassionate and helpful.
