My name is Kim Davis. Many of you probably know nothing about me, however I am a co-worker of Gary's wife. For those of that you that don't know me, I am an avid runner and have had my whole life surrounded by diabetes. I, myself, do not have it, but the majority of my family has or had it. My dad passed from this monsterous disease when I was 19 and my life has been forever touched by it.
I had the wonderful opportunity to work with Gary not all that long ago. Gary was a kind soul that was full of spirit and loved to laugh. He loved OU football as well as his Dallas Cowboys almost as much as he loved his family. Gary touched everyone's life that he came in contact with and was a friend to everyone.
His big heart for everyone will never be forgotten. Gary reminded me a lot of my father in many ways. He was a joy to work with and always gave it his all, no matter what was thrown at him. He always managed to have a smile for me even on the roughest of days.
Because of Gary's big heart, I have choosen to run the Route 66 Marathon in memory of him and to help raise money for the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation. If Gary and millions of others can endure a lifetime of living with diabetes, I can endure hours of training and 4+ hours of running on their behalf.
You will be missed Gary!
