I ran 13 miles in Long beach on October 13th, bib 1961. My times can be viewed at http://www.runpix.info/arace8/06/lbc13/dge.php
This page is in memory of a friend who unexpectedly died from stomach cancer.
The signs and symptoms are often ignored. I want to raise funds for NoStomachforCancer.org so that others are aware of the signs and will obtain treatment before it becomes fatal.
Signs and symptoms of stomach cancer can include:
- Loss of appetite
- Unexplained weight loss
- Sense of fullness after eating small amounts of food (also called early satiety)
- Abdominal pain or vague discomfort in the abdomen, usually above the navel
- Heartburn, indigestion or ulcer-type symptoms
- Vomiting, with or without blood
Most often, these symptoms are not due to cancer. (Which may be why they are so often ignored.) Other health problems, such as an ulcer or infection, can cause the same symptoms. Anyone who has these symptoms should tell their doctor so that problems can be diagnosed and treated as early as possible. This is especially important if the symptoms are caused by cancer.
