THE STORY:

BRIDGEPORT HOSPITAL FOUNDATION INC wrote -

Quilter Noreen Graham of Rye, New York, created a beautiful quilt in memory of Tina Burbank, using the vibrant colors of Tina's garden as inspiration.  The quilt will be given to her daughters Madeline and Katherine, as a reminder of their mother’s love, courage and determination. Noreen would like donations to be made to The Norma F. Pfriem Breast Care Center's Medically Underserved Initiatives in Tina's memory.

Tina Burbank was a kind, beautiful, intelligent woman with many wonderful attributes. First and most importantly, Tina loved spending time with her family. Her daughters Madeline and Katherine were the loves of her life. They inherited their Mom's beauty, intelligence and numerous talents.

Tina's oldest daughter Madeline, a senior at The University of Richmond, shares Tina's love for cooking. Maddie and Tina collaborated on many  "Barefoot Contessa is coming to dinner" worthy meals. Like her Mom, Madeline is a natural chef and emulates her Mom's natural sense of style in the kitchen and out.

Katherine, Tina's younger daughter is a freshman at The University of North Carolina. Kate is an extremely athletically talented young woman. Her mother was her biggest advocate and supported her fiercely through sickness and health in all of her athletic endeavors.

Tina died on July 5th, 2013 of complications from metastatic breast cancer. She was a devoted wife, sister, aunt and friend and will be deeply missed by many.

Noreen Graham has found a way for us to remember Tina, as well as show Madeline and Katherine how much we love them. In doing this, she has come up with a novel way to support women who are battling breast cancer.

Noreen, a member of the Northern Star Quilters Guild who has been quilting for twenty years, became a friend of the Norma Pfriem Breast Care Center through its teen supporters of Catwalk for a Cure.

Catwalk for a Cure:  An Evening of Family Fashion and Fun is organized by students from local high schools to help raise funds for the programs for women in need at The Norma F. Pfriem Breast Care Center.

Noreen wanted to contribute to the Catwalk effort, and one of her quilts was auctioned at a Fairfield Catwalk to raise funds for the Breast Care Center.

We hope Tina’s quilt will inspire others to lend their support to the Norma Pfriem Breast Care Center, because no woman should battle this disease alone.  Your generosity will become part of this handcrafted legacy for Tina’s daughters.
