On September 11th, Stephen Siller had just gotten off the late shift at Squad 1, Park Slope, Brooklyn, when he heard the first plane hit the Twin Towers. He drove his truck to the Brooklyn Battery Tunnel, but it was already closed. So he strapped 60 lbs. of gear to his back, rushed on foot through gridlocked traffic and ran from the Tunnel to the Towers where he gave up his life while saving others. William Codd was a dear friend of Stephen Siller. His love to run, wish to honor his beloved friend, and bureaucratic ties to the city made Billy instrumental to starting the first Tunnels to Tower race in NYC. We lost our Uncle Billy this past April, but will be honoring his commitment to justice through the eyes of the law and contagious smile during this race. Thank you for your love and support in not only honoring our uncle, but in raising money for our nation's first responders and military service members.
