Thank you for visiting my 2017 NYC Marathon fundraising page to benefit the Innocence Project! I am proud to join Innocence Project's 2017 NYC Marathon team and fundraise for the powerful work they do. ANY support you can provide will help eradicate the many injustices in the criminal legal system.
If you are not familiar with the Innocence Project, it is a charitable organization committed to exonerating the wrongly convicted through DNA testing and reforming the criminal justice system to prevent future injustice. IP has individuilized departments committed to:
- Exonerating the innocent with DNA evidence;
- Improving case law precedent by spreading awareness of unreliable witness testimony or unverified forensic evidence;
- Reforming legislation and legal policy to prevent the main contributors to wrongful convictions: eyewitness misidentification, misapplication of forensic science, false confessions, incentivized witnesses, government misconduct and inadequate defense; and
- Social worker support for exonerees to resore their lives after their release.
It is most fitting that as I train for this marathon, I will be graduating law school and preparing for the NY Bar exam. The commitment to our legal system that IP and pro bono attorneys across the country show by fighting against these injustices serve as my greatest role model. Thank you SO VERY MUCH for sharing, donating, and supporting me on this journey!
