Innocent, yet behind bars for 29 years
Organized by: Patricia Dominguez
Hello My name is Patricia Prieto Dominguez. I am asking my community, my people, and everyone that can understand how an individual can be sent to prison, even though he is innocent of the crime he is accused of. Our legal system has flaws and does fail to serve its purpose and consequently sends innocent people to prison. My brother, Jeffrey Prieto, has been accused of a crime, a crime he did not commit, yet because the system is demanding for him to say, I'm guilty and he will not because he proclaims his innocence since day 1. The court even offered him back in the 80's a plea bargain of 2 years with time served. Yet, my brother did not accept this because he knew he is innocent and believed the legal system would prove his innocence and it failed him. It's now approximately, 29 years , the time he has remained in prison, and with our mothers passing just last year in May, it's been very devastating for us, but more so for Jeff. Due to not being able to spend the time with Mom or even being able to be with her in the last 10 days in which she fought hard while on life support. Moms major concern was Jeff. She fought her illnesses with the strength left in her, and she always said, she wanted to see Jeff home before she passed away. Unfortunately, she died with this worry in her heart. As she layed in her death bed, I promised her, I would always take care of him and that I would try my hardest to bring him home. Now, I come to you, the individual reading this, and I plea for you to touch your heart and support my cause. The attorneys want a lot of money and I need your help. May Gods blessings be with us all.
