Alzheimer’s has been described as one of the costliest diseases, mainly because of the long-term care and support that is needed for those affected by it. The main burden falls on families. I am riding to support families in Northern Virginia who need help to afford the high quality programs provided by Insight Memory Care Center (IMCC) of Fairfax VA. IMCC is a nonprofit adult day health and resource center providing specialized care, support, and education for individuals with Alzheimer’s disease and other memory impairments, their families, caregivers, and the community. Valerie and I have used and enjoyed their programs since 2012. We have learned and laughed and shared. We know at first hand just how much this means to both the individual affected and the caregiver, in helping to cope with the effects of memory and cognitive impairments. We have the resources. But there are many who do not. For participants and families who have difficulty meeting the cost of care at Insight, IMCC has the Family Caregiver Respite Fund with the goal that no one is turned away for lack of funds to pay for services. Help them continue their wonderful work with a generous donation.
