Have you ever heard of the Borgen Project?!
Well if you haven't, it's a non profit global poverty organization that advocates to the U.S. government to keep foreign aid to countries who need it most.
Clint Borgen started this project from humble beginnings. It was while he was serving as a young volunteer in refugee camps, in 1999 during the Kosovo War and genocide, that he realized that extreme poverty needs to be addressed.
"In 2003, after graduating from Washington State University and interning at the United Nations, Borgen began developing his project. In need of startup funding, Borgen took a job living on a fishing vessel docked in Dutch Harbor, Alaska (the same location as The Deadliest Catch). From humble beginnings in one of Earth’s most remote locations, The Borgen Project was born."
The headquarters are located in Seattle, and I'm an intern blogger for them now; it was Clint's humble beginnings that attracted me to this organization and its ambition and perseverance.
