Institute for Latin American Concern (ILAC) Summer Program
Organized by: Michael Simhachalam
EVENT DATE Jun 21, 2016
My name is Michael Simhachalam and I am fundraising for the opportunity to learn more about medical missions. As a current medical student it is my goal to do long term medical mission trips throughout my carrier as a physician and the program offered by the Institute for Latin American Concern (ILAC) will be an excellent opportunity for me to gain some much needed experience and support an excellent institution.
The ILAC Center in the Dominican Republic is an international, Christian, collaborative health care and educational organization that exists to promote the integral well-being and spiritual growth of all its participants. All of Creighton’s ILAC programs emphasize the importance of global vision and understanding in the process of education and successful, well-rounded individuals. To this end, Creighton’s ILAC programs offers dental, medical, nursing, pharmacy, law, physical therapy and occupational therapy students the opportunity to learn, to serve and to be served in the Dominican Republic.
As a medical student, I will be working alongside professionals and students from the schools of nursing, physical therapy, pharmacy, and dentistry. We will be living in one of the campos, or villages, with a Dominican family, experiencing their rich culture, and reflecting together on God's work.
Your donation to the ILAC program will help offset our living expenses and assist our volunteer work, including necessary medication and other medical supplies. Your gift will help me to reach my fundraising goal, allowing me to participate in this volunteer effort and gain experience doing work I plan on pursuing in the future.
