In Support of Namali
Organized by: Maria Ponce
Namali is a hardworking, dedicated, and loving mother of three: a son who is preparing to enter into his first year of college and a son and daughter in high school, who is currently facing deportation along with her children and husband Saman. She has lived and legally worked in the United States for 10 years and raised her children here. She and her family came to the United States on visas with the hopes of gaining refugee status but has encountered many hardships and roadblocks along the way, including the delayed notification of deportation by her (now former) lawyer. On December 1st Namali and her husband went to a routine immigration meeting where they were initially notified of their upcoming deportation and her husband was taken to the Pearsall Detention Center without question and with no criminal charges pressed against him. It is our hope to raise funds for Namali and her family as they go through this difficult time and hope that her husband is returned to his family soon as we enter into the holiday season.
