Did you know that according to the World Health Organization (WHO, 2012) Breast cancer is the most common cancer in women in both developed and undeveloped countries with an estimated 458,000 deaths each year??? How about the fact that of those deaths, approximately 269,000 occur in middle to lower income countries due to the lack of early screening and treatment availability??? That's more than 50%!!!
Well at some point, somebody somewhere realized that something needs to be done about this, just as you yourself may have as well, and with the help of generous donors like you, Caríbe Breast Cancer Care was eventually founded in 2012. Since then, Island Impact and the International Breast Cancer Team of Southampton, N.Y. have been able to successfully provide both preventative breast cancer care as well as quality surgical treatment to those in need on the North Coast of the Dominican Republic.
Now that you know all of this, and given that it's not too late for you to partake in the October Breast Cancer Awareness Month action, we know you are just itching to do something! By donating to our fundraiser, your contribution will be put to good use and help make as immediate of an impact as you could ever hope for. You will be funding a medical and surgical team complete with surgeons, pathologist, nurse practitioners , nurses and volunteers that will screen, treat, educate and deliver essential medical supplies to a people whom otherwise may not get the care they need or deserve.
Here's what you can do! First, make as small or as large a donation as you can. Second, share our page and this great cause with as many friends, family, co-workers, neighbours, and or strangers as you can. Third, join us at any one of our many upcoming social events. Fourth, hmm, donate some more???
We are so grateful for all of your help, we absolutely couldn't do it without you!
