The third season for INTERSECTION is all about strengthening our foundation and deepening our roots to build a strong future. We've launched several new initiatives including monthly performances at Kidsville and Room in the Inn, and we are building and piloting our Contempo Kids composition curriculum this season. These new programs strengthen our core mission to present and create contemporary classical music for all people to experience.
Our Fall Cheekwood performances, World Filling Light and Deepening Roots at Cheekwood, were designed to build community while also showcasing new composer voices. We featured the music of London based Indian composer, Param Vir; Boston based African American composer Jonathan Bailey Holland; Kansas City based Chinese composer Chen Yi and more.
In 2017, we plan to present several exciting programs. We'll begin a multi-year partnership with Fisk University and Choral Arts Link with concerts in January and April. We'll present a family concert featuring Chinese composers and instruments in partnership with the Center for Chinese Music and Culture at MTSU. This concert will also include a newly commissioned work by Wu Fei. In April, we will end our season with a partnership with Nashville in Harmony. This concert will include the US premiere of Codebreaker by James McCarthy as well as the Nashville premiere of Nico Muhly's Seeing is Believing with electric violinist Tracy Silverman.
This is an exciting season for us and we thank you for your support in bringing new music to Nashville. Our mantra is "Ears Wide Open" - we are listening!
