Invest in the vest (Aegis Phase 2, 100 Vest Launch)
Organized by: Denys Linkov
Millions of people from South Asia have come to Qatar in search of a better future for themselves and their families, but instead have been met with strenuous jobs resulting in health complications and possible death. Once on site, they are bound to stay for the term of their contract and have little say over the labour conditions. Already 1500 have lost their lives.
The migrants work physically exhausting jobs that require working 12 hours shifts with temperatures that frequently reach over 40 degrees Celsius. This leads to severe heart complications including heart attacks that have resulted in thousands of deaths. As we became more aware of the migrant working situation in Qatar, we six university students came together to form a non profit in hopes of saving lives and improving working conditions. Our solution is to introduce cooling vests to be part of the standard uniform of the migrant workers.
The vests significantly lower heat strain on the workers resulting in safer working conditions that ultimately save lives. We have begun small scale testing and along with industry research have found that while wearing the vests, the workers' risk of health complications falls significantly.
With the success of our pilot project we are looking to scale our solution to larger construction projects with an initial 100 vest launch this summer. With this larger project we intend to demonstrate the benefits of the vests and eventually have full industry adoption, saving even more lives. We’ve seen the potential of these lifesaving vests and we hope you will too. Your donations are greatly appreciated. For more infromation visit our website at
