BENEFITING: International Rescue Committee
ORGANIZER: International Rescue Committee
EVENT: Aleppo Relief Fund
I've been hearing a lot about Syria over the last year or so, but never really stopped to understand what was happening or why. There were plenty of times when I read an article on Facebook about something horrendous that had happened yet again, but I would just move on down my timeline after dwelling on it for only a couple of seconds. I would think to myself, "That's so sad..but what can I do?"
I recently gave birth to a beautiful baby girl almost 4 months ago. The older she grows, the more I can't help but think how incredibly lucky we are to be living in the United States and not in Syria. I can't imagine trying to raise her in a state of constant warfare. These children in Syria can't learn, they can't play, they can't grow without fearing for their lives. I decided to make this fundraising page because it breaks my heart to think of what these people are going through.
I thought by creating a page, I would be able to ask friends and family to donate to the cause as well. My goal is to raise about $500 for the people of Syria, if you can donate anything, I would appreciate it so much. If you can't, I would love it if you could share this page with your family and friends.
I plan on donating the money that I've raised to the International Rescue Committee at the end of the year. The IRC started helping Syria in 2012, and according to their website, over 90% of the money that is donated goes towards services and products that directly benefit Syrian refugees.
