BENEFITING: INTERACTIVE RESOURCE CENTER INC
The Interactive Resource Center (IRC) Community Garden is a new addition to the IRC community. It is a project that came about from a collaboration between Transition Greensboro and the IRC. The big planting day in April was made possible by many people volunteering their time, money, and supplies to get the garden started. The garden is now a new opportunity for guests at the IRC to learn more about gardening, to strengthen one's sense of self, and build community. It is also a way for guests to learn about healthy foods and grab a healthy bite to eat when needed.
The first crop is starting to develop nicely. It includes a fantastic herb spiral with things such as sorrell, dill, basil, chives, oregano and mint. We also have squash, tomatoes, a fig tree, two pear trees, lima and pole beans, okra, and peppers. We are doing everything as naturally and organically as possible.
