I am not as interesting as my cause, that is to row. To row along with my fellow misfits to become better-structured individuals as a sort of personal reflection best found with friends. When one member is off her game, the rest of the team is there and ready to pick her up, drop her in a boat, and push her through those limits she has made for herself. I see this, all the time in Paige. Willing to run a 2k, just to hurtle herself up the last hill to cheer on the people behind her. That team works hides in between the lines of Lily and Sophia's encouraging words through our tough rowing machine sets. That confidence is in our Margarita's amazing flexibility and strength to always hold a smile. Bella's perseverance and humble attitude. Charlotte's leadership as a new coxswain. Giana's laughter. Changer's kindness. Loc and Lindsey's perseverance through pain, as Loc has done through a very tough rowing set on the water and as Lindsey has constantly overcome to continue the rowing on the machines, even in tears. Eleanor, our ambition still sick but present to our first regatta if not a rower than as our cheerleader, leading us through our best races yet.
My cause is to one day be like these girls. Starting today.
