Iris - Team Literacy Partners charity NYC Marathon 2016
Organized by: Iris Saleh
I don't share this but I was the first person in my family to complete college in the United States, and many of you know I am a child of immigrants. I have always believed that education, and, especially, literacy, is a great equalizer for people of all backgrounds to drastically improve their lives. As a mother, I understand the need to improve language skills to aid in a child's early intellectual develop. And I believe deeply that literacy should be attainable for all, regardless of economic background or any other environmental disadvantages.
For these reasons, I will run the 2016 New York City Marathon (26.2 miles) in support of Literacy Partners. Literacy Partners is battling this largely hidden epidemic through free reading programs for adults tailored to everything from job readiness to health and financial literacy. I am honored to have been accepted as a charity runner for Literacy Partners for the 2016 New York City Marathon, as their cause is one near and dear to my heart.
I have committed to raise $2,500 and I believe this is a cause we can all get behind and believe in. ANY donations will be very greatly appreciated! Literally every DOLLAR makes a difference!!! I'm excited to do this and excited to donate to a good cause. Making a donation is easy and all contributions are tax-deductible. Thank you for your support!
