BENEFITING: Food Empowerment Project
I am racing in IRONMAN Cozumel in November to help raise money for an organization that is dear to my heart, Food Empowerment Project (F.E.P.) www.foodispower.org. F.E.P. is a vegan food justice organization that is trying to create a more just and sustainable world through the power of our food choices. What made me come to love this organization so much is their willingness to address the intersectionality of food justice issues like no other organization I know of. Food is an important resource and so many people do not have access healthy food options, mostly affecting communities of color and lower income communities. Food Empowerment Project works tirelessly to combat the inherent injustice and inequalities within the current climate and system. I believe that access to healthy food is a human right and the work that FEP is doing is an invaluable asset to creating a better world. In addition to combating food deserts, FEP organizes clothing and school supply drives for children of migrant farm workers and also works to get companies that use chocolate to be transparent about where the chocolate is sourced from, the chocolate industry being one of the most exploitative industries in terms of using child slave labor. Please join me in supporting this great organization!
