THE STORY:

High School Strength and Conditioning changes lives. It did for me.

Whether it was the first time I walked into my high school weight room and felt welcome and cared for, or when I supervised the Weight Room at Keene High School for my first job out of college. When a high school student is empowered, supported, challenged and collaborative, it makes for a bright future.

Working with the Strength and Conditioning program at Keene High School changed my life and perception of the future. Helping kids realize their potential and being a positive influence in their lives was rewarding as heck, but what they did for me far outweighed what I could give to them.

They taught me that the future is bright. That young people are motivated, hard-working, talented and passionate. They taught me responsibility, they held me accountable, they showed me what perseverance truly is. They gave me memories, fun and happiness every day of the week.

Without the Weight Room at Keene High School, my life would be different, just as I believe it would be different for many of the training athletes that use its facilities. It's a home and a community that is special to many people.

And it needs help.

Keene High School has over 1200 students. Last year, there were over 160 of them that used the Weight Room, which is small and ill-equipped to handle the type of training and numbers that Keene High School Athletics deserves. We need to raise $50,000 to help restore the weight room and bring a newness and excitement to Keene that it both needs and is owed.

So I'm running an IRONMAN on August 20th in Quebec.  I have no history of ultra-marathon competition, no equipment (aside from a mountain bike) and a challenging schedule to find time to train. But I will train. And I will finish. Thanks to the Keene High School Weight Room and what it's taught me about being a man, a role model, and most importantly, a Blackbird.

Help me to raise the money necessary to give the students at Keene High School what they deserve. Together, we can make a weight room that can house the demand of the students, letting them continue to improve and challenge themselves as young adults.
