Ironman for Michael Remennikov
Organized by: Ruslana Postolati
My dad has always been a person filled with surprises. The surprises came in a wide array of inspiration, humor, adventure, spontaneity, and life. He was the Christopher Columbus of my family, bringing our huge family from Eastern Europe to the US back in the 1990's. My dad had a passion for life and people, especially elders. He loved everyone, and everyone adored him. On May 7, 2016, my dad at 54 shocked myself and my entire family and close friends with a sudden and unexpected event...he peacefully left us with the perplexing mystery of his undiagnosed death. Leading up to this day, I had the wonderful opportunity and memory of spending my time with my dad doing something that changed both of our lives in dynamic ways....we trained to do an Olympic triathlon together. In many ways, I saw how much we both grew from the experience of training. Going through the mental obstacles of each practice together, he was there for me, and I for him. The day after we completed our event together, he told me that he wanted to keep going with triathlons and we went looking around for road bikes/tri bikes. He was the happiest I've ever seen him. In honor of my dad, please help me go to 2017 IRONMAN Australia (May 7, 2017), and commemorate him with this race. My dad's goal was to make it to Australia to meet family members for the first time. The funds will be used for training, registration, accommodations, and travel. No matter how little or large, any donation will go a long way and I will truly appreciate it! My heart goes out to all who have lost someone close to them.
