The Union Gospel Mission (UGM) of Spokane, WA and Coeur d'Alene, ID has been meeting the needs of the poor and homeless for over 60 years - providing more than 6.5 million meals and 1.5 million nights of shelter. What began as a downtown soup kitchen in 1951 has expanded into a comprehensive ministry encompassing Rescue, Recovery and Restoration with three shelters, two thrift stores, an automotive enterprise, and a summer camp for underprivleged youth.
"Our aim is not free meals, but freed persons; not free beds, but free beings." Albert Arend, founder of the Union Gospel Mission.
I'm racing this year for those who can't right now - those struggling with alcohol and drug addictons, the homeless, the hopeless, the abused, neglected, and abandoned. The Union Gospel Mission is giving hope in Jesus Christ to these people. They have touched thousands of lives over the years, giving hope to the hopeless, and not just giving people a temporary reprieve from the chaos, but truly setting people free and giving them new life. I'm honored to represent and raise funds for UGM in 2015! God Bless, and thank you for your support!
