BENEFITING: NATIONAL MULTIPLE SCLEROSIS SOCIETY
EVENT DATE: Oct 20, 2012
My mother was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis in 1994, when I was 12 years old, before I had even finished junior high. Every day since, she has battled daily exhaustion, nervous system debilitation, trial medication, balance problems, and occasional attacks on her entire body. Throughout the last two decades, though, she has been a strong pillar of support for her family, friends, and colleagues. While I was in high school and college, she worked hard to support me financially and morally so that I could have the space and time to develop my own interests - including my ventures in running and long distance racing. She has never been able to see me cross a marathon or triathlon finish line, but will be standing on the side line of my upcoming IronMan triathlon.
As a thank you to my mom's years of encouragement and determination in battling her disease, I'm raising money for the National Multiple Sclerosis Society, a collective of passionate individuals who move together toward a world free of multiple sclerosis. As I train and endure the pain of the grueling race, my Mom's own determination will be my inspiration, and the money raised through this event will mean the world to us both.
Thank you all in advance for your support! More information about the MS Society and their goals can be found here: www.nationalmssociety.org.
