Widely considered one of the most difficult one-day sporting events in the world, IRONMAN® competitions consist of 70.3-miles of consecutive swimming, biking and running. This event has been described as one of the best life experiences ever. Do you have what it takes to be an IRONMAN®?
The race begins at Tempe Beach Park, just west of the Mill Avenue Bridge. The swim takes place in a calm, manmade lake with water temperatures in the mid 70s. The three-loop (each loop is 18.5 miles) bike course is a relatively flat and winds through Tempe before offering some scenic vistas of the Sonoran desert. The two-loop run follows a 6.5-mile loop around Tempe Town Lake with some great views of Arizona State University and the developing landscape of Tempe.
