BENEFITING: Medstar National Rehabilitation Hospital
ORGANIZER: THE IRONMAN FOUNDATION
EVENT: Your Journey Your Cause 2017
On July 23rd, I’ll be enjoying the beauty of Lake Placid.
Okay, “enjoying” may be a bit of a stretch. I am attempting my first Ironman triathlon. That means I’ll be swimming 2.4 miles, biking 112 miles, and running a marathon…all in one day.
I have been working towards this goal for almost a year. It has been an exciting, scary, and empowering journey. I am pushing my body, mind, and willpower further than I’ve ever done before.
As a physical therapist, I am privileged to witness the hard work and dedication of my patients on a daily basis. In honor of them, I am raising money for MedStar’s Adaptive Sports & Fitness Program.
The Adaptive Sports & Fitness Program helps individuals with disabilities participate in recreational and competitive sports in the DC region. Through exercise, they help participants build self-confidence, improve health, and regain their independence. In addition to team sports, they provide fitness classes through the No Limits Adaptive Fitness program.
These programs are free for all participants. How is this possible? Through donations, grants, and fundraising.
That’s where you come in… In honor of my Ironman journey, please consider donating to help this program continue to serve people of all ability levels in the DC region.
