“Way To Get ‘Er Done, Samantha!!!”

BENEFITING: The National MS Society
ORGANIZER: THE IRONMAN FOUNDATION
EVENT: Your Journey Your Cause 2017
On July 23, 2017, I will attempt to finish IRONMAN Lake Placid before the midnight cut-off. Completing a full distance triathlon is a long time goal of mine and with my family's unwavering support, I am now training in hopes of attaining this goal. I am going to put in the work, try my best and let the journey unfold as it will. When pursuing our dreams, there may be twists and turns along the way...the journey might not end quite as planned but we must persevere and trust that anything is possible. Never give up!!!
With this in mind, I have decided to give my journey to ironman purpose. Through The IRONMAN® Foundation's Your Journey, Your CauseTM program, athletes who already have an IRONMAN race registration have the opportunity to identify a non-profit beneficiary as part of their journey to become an IRONMAN and race for a cause. My cause is inspired by my friend Gina (photographed walking with her children in NY City), who continues to remind me of and teach some of life's most valuable lessons...
Gina is someone who I've gotten to know over the past couple of years yet it feels like we've know each other forever. Gina once posted on Facebook that she would walk straight across this country, if she could! It struck a nerve with me because I wholeheartedly believe that Gina WOULD walk clear across the country, although I am also painfully aware that she's in all out war against the debilitating symptoms of Multiple Sclerosis. Gina is a hero. To her husband, her children, her family, her friends, members of her MS support group and anyone that she comes in contact with. Gina's battle against MS is fought daily with grace, humility and overwhelming kindness. She smiles through the pain and frustration, shows empathy for others when she feels like melting into her own sadness and strives to make each day count no matter what her body says...she is so very strong and a living example that anything is possible! Gina's journey continuously inspires me to persevere and strive for better along the course of my own life's journey. Identifying a fundraising cause for this leg of my journey was simple: The National MS Society, Greater Delaware Valley Chapter. This organization is not only committed to finding a cure for MS, but also dedicated to helping improve the quality of life for those presently living with the disease. Helping to encourage and let those struggling to truly believe that anything is possible...
Thank you for considering support of this cause!
