BENEFITING: Cannonball Kids' Cancer
ORGANIZER: THE IRONMAN FOUNDATION
EVENT: Your Journey Your Cause 2016
Help me "cannonball" kid’s cancer.
The physical struggle and pain I have endured in the preparation for this race pales in comparison to the struggle and pain (both emotional and physical) that families and individuals go through on a daily basis when they are met with the struggle of childhood cancer. Again, I am extremely lucky that as a father my son is happy and healthy. I cannot begin to imagine the pain and heartache a parent must endure when their child is diagnosed with a condition like cancer.
That is why I have decided to use my incredible luck and opportunity of being able to compete in Ironman North Carolina as an opportunity to support children and families that suffer at the hands of childhood cancer.
I am doing this by participating in Ironman’s “Your Journey, Your Cause” program benefiting a great charity – Cannonball Kid’s Cancer.
About Cannonball Kid’s Cancer (from their website): Cannonball Kids' cancer Foundation was founded in June 2014 by Michael and Melissa Wiggins, the parents of Cannon Wiggins. When Cannon was 20 months old, he was diagnosed with Stage IV high risk neuroblastoma. During the treatment of Cannon, Michael and Melissa learned so little time, effort and funding is devoted to finding cures for children's cancer compared to adult cancers, and as a result, children are unnecessarily and unjustly lost. This foundation aims to stop the tragic reality of children suffering and dying because of the lack of research in the world of children's cancer treatments.
I urge everyone to please visit the links below to learn more about this charity whose importance I cannot overstate.
Please donate – even if through the charity’s site directly and not my fundraising page – Please donate.
