BENEFITING: Tri for Tourette
ORGANIZER: THE IRONMAN FOUNDATION
EVENT DATE: May 17, 2014
I am excited to announce that I will be competing in IRONMAN Texas on May 17, 2014! IRONMAN Texas is a triathlon consisting of a 2.4 mile swim, 112 mile bike ride, and a 26.2 mile run. I have partnered with the IRONMAN Foundation to raise money as I train for the Tri for Tourette Charity.
Tri for Tourette is a fundraising event I started in 2013 and is supported by the Tourette Syndrome Association of Texas. The primary purpose of Tri for Tourette is to raise funds so that children diagnosed with Tourette Syndrome have the opportunity to attend Camp du Ballon Rouge. The camp, held annually in Burton, Texas, provides a very unique and positive experience for these children, ages 5-18. Most of our campers also suffer from Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD) and Attention Deficit Disorder (ADD). We will be hosting our 12th annual camp in late September and we are expecting over 130 kids! There is no cost to the families whose children attend. The majority of our cost is for the fully staffed facility at Camp For All.
The mission of Camp du Ballon Rouge is to enrich the lives of children with Tourette Syndrome (TS) through a unique outdoor experience that offers acceptance, provides hope, promotes discovery, and creates the opportunity to establish relationships with others affected by TS. We have seen positive life changes in many of the children that have attended our camp. Currently, the camp is a 2-day event. We really hope to extend the camp to a week-long experience to provide our campers with even more of an opportunity to improve the quality of their life.
The IRONMAN Foundation is providing me this platform to raise funds for Tri for Tourette. In doing so, I am making my journey a race for a cause. This is a fantastic opportunity to bring awareness about TS and, most importantly, to show our campers that "Anything Is Possible" - the motto for IRONMAN. Of course I have to finish the race to prove this!
Please partner with me by making a donation on this secure, personal fundraising webpage. Your donation will help improve the quality of life for these kids by providing them with an environment where they have the opportunity to build self-esteem and to learn social skills, while living with TS. Please forward my link to any friends and family that might be interested in supporting my cause.
If you have time, please view the pictures and video that I have posted to this web page. Also, please let me know if you would be interested in coming out to camp for a few hours to see what all we're doing.
I really appreciate your support!
