EVENT: Your Journey Your Cause 2017
As some of you already know I will run the Memorial Hermann Ironman Texas race on April 22nd in Woodlands, Texas. Although I have been training for this race, a long difficult process, for months, I wonder if I will be ready, but I am sure if I persevere I will finish the race within time limit and earn Ironman title.
To be honest, swimming 2.4-mile (3.86 km), biking 112-mile (180.25 km), and running a full marathon of 26.22-miles is not fun all the time. It is an exciting and dynamic moment but at the same time is very challenging and exhausting process. However, one thing that stays in my mind is I have a reason to keep going. The reason I participate in the Ironman is not for the title-I swim, bike, and run for the purpose of fundraising and to help Cure SMA society (http://www.curesma.org/).
Spinal muscular atrophy (SMA) is an often fatal disease that destroys the nerves controlling voluntary muscle movement, which affects crawling, walking, head and neck control, and even swallowing. When I want to quit the race, I think of my physically challenged friend, Angie. Angie is struggling with SMA, and her family made a society, Angie’s Hope (http://www.angieshope.org/), to raise funds and awareness towards a cure for Spinal Muscular Atrophy, while showing abilities outweigh disabilities. Angie’s Hope is a part of Cure SMA, and I run the Memorial Hermann Ironman Texas race to raise funds for them.
If you would be so kind, please donate 10 cents per mile-the race is 140.6-mile in total, so it makes 14 dollars. As a special request, please also add an additional one dollar to wish me good luck to finish the race successfully and earn the Ironman title. And so, in total, I ask you to pledge 15 dollars. Please be generous and send me a bucket of money (more is better).
Thank you all for your interest and donations in advance.
