Tomorrow I will be racing Ironman WI! This "bucket list" event is in my hometown (Madison - woot woot!) and will consist of a 2.4mi swim, 112mi bike, and a 26.2mi run. I am so grateful for the support of my husband and kiddos, my parents & sisters, many friends, training pals, coach Cindi, & neighbors too. Each of you have been instrumental in getting me to this point. You rock!
Training and racing this year has had a bigger focus. I dedicated the season to family & friends whose health have been affected by cancer. I have reached my goal of $2,000 raised for Coaches vs Cancer WI...Now I'd like your help in crushing that amount!
If you love UW athletics (Coach Bo Ryan is head of the Board at Coaches vs Cancer WI!)...if you or your kiddo has ever had an awesome coach (hey coach Cindi - I'm a swimmer because of you!)...or if you just have an extra $10 in your pocket... Help me support this great cause.
I hope to see many of you out there on the course on Sept 13th! Thank you very much to all those who have already donated! Thank you to each of you for your consideration.

Coaches vs Cancer WI is a highly impactful program within the American Cancer Society. Helping support research at UW-Madison (see below), as well as providing caregiver support, patient education and prevention are passions close to my heart.
My grandfather, grandmother, a close college friend, my cousin and her dad-my uncle, a "mom-friend' and training buddy, my son's school mate...all have had their lives affected by battling cancer. Their class, strength, sharp wit, faith and humor inspires me. Fundraising during this IM journey for the greater good inspires me too.
I chose the IRONMAN® Foundation's Your Journey, Your Cause(TM) program, to facilitate fundraising for Coaches vs Cancer WI. Matching up triathlon training, battling cancer, coaching and Wisconsin athletics fires me up!
Please consider donating any amount. Donate more than once! Thank you in advance for helping me help others beat cancer one dollar at a time! Your contribution to this 501c3 program is tax deductible.
(If you're like me and want to know details when donating then read on to learn how Coaches vs Cancer WI helps specifically).
From Amy Rohrer, Sr Development Manager, Distinguished Events MW, American Cancer Society:
"Funds raised from the Coaches vs. Cancer Wisconsin program go on to support the American Cancer Society mission through research, patient programs, education and advocacy nationwide (based on need). Last year, we were, however, able to give increased research funding to the University of Wisconsin Carbone Cancer Center for a new postdoctoral fellowship. We also increased the Society awards for two current Carbone research scholars. The postdoctoral fellow is studying how malfunctions in the regulation of stem cells impacts cancer growth. The two researchers are studying new and better treatments for prostate and ovarian cancer. This is in addition to the nearly $8 million the American Cancer Society is already funding in current research projects at UW-Madison. That is more than any other cancer center in the Midwest. We consider Carbone an important partner, and have other affiliations with Carbone, including an onsite patient navigator, access for patients to free rides to treatment, as well as several other programs."
