BENEFITING: Pediatric Congenital Heart Association
ORGANIZER: THE IRONMAN FOUNDATION
EVENT: Your Journey Your Cause 2017
I am a dude that is immensely blessed to be a dad to four healthy, beautiful daughters.
It is never lost on our family that were fortunate to bring four healthy babies home from the hospital, while others have not had the same story.
Shortly after the Alger Squad started to multiply, we were fortunate to learn of the Deane family that live in the same neighborhood. They were walking through a difficult diagnosis of their son being born with a congenital heart defect (CHD) that would require a heart transplant and life-long treatment.
CHD has no cure, is the most common birth defect, and is the number one cause of birth defect related deaths. Additionally, 40,000 infants are born in the US each year with CHD and is a lifelong disease requiring ongoing specialized care.
With these staggering statistics, Pediatric Congenital Heart Association (PCHA) was created to provide power through education, furthering research, and foster advocacy for the CHD community.
Fast forward several years, and the youngest Deane is a healthy and active child with continual, proactive care. I am lucky to have found a good friend in his father…so much so, that we train and will be racing together (with several others) twice this year alone. As we race, we will be raising funds for PCHA, an undeniably important organization not just for the Deane family but for tens of thousands of children and their families every year.
Please support us, in our support of Pediatric Congenital Heart Association.
Thank you in advance, from one lucky dad and a friend that is honored to support.
