I am excited to be running my 6th Marathon on October 17th, and my first ever charity race!
I have chosen the Project Purple Pioneer Program as my inaugural charity race because of the need for Pancreatic Cancer support. Pancreatic Cancer is the fourth most common cause of cancer deaths, yet one of the least well funded. In addition to providing research support, Project Purple provides scholarships to students affected by Pancreatic Cancer and financial assistance to Pancreatic Cancer patients.
I run for my father, David, who died of Pancreatic Cancer in 2011. He was a runner, a bicyclist, and a musician. I run for my mother, Jaci, who died of Breast Cancer in 2006. She was a runner, a quilter, and a singer. I run in support of all individuals who are affected by cancer; but particularly the patients and their caregivers.
I run for exercise, I run for scenery, I run for clarity, but most importantly, I run in support of those who can't.
