BENEFITING: LuMind Research Down Syndrome Foundation
On February 17, 2015 with 17 inches of snow outside, our little Isaac Parker was born into this world unexpectedly with Down's Syndrome. Our first year of doctor's visits, additional diagnosis, one surgery, hours of therapy and a new community of families in the same boat as us has proven to be challenging, but also a blessing. We are committed to giving Isaac the best medical attention, therapies and opportunities available. We feel strongly about what LuMind is committed to with their cognitive research efforts. The mission of the LuMind Research Down Syndrome Foundation is to stimulate research to significantly improve cognition - including memory, learning and speech - for people with Down syndrome. Through supporting this highly focused field of research, their goal is to develop treatments that help people with Down syndrome lead more active and independent lives, participate more successfully in school and employment, and avoid additional cognitive decline associated with early-onset Alzheimer's Disease and aging.
