BENEFITING: ISRAEL GUIDE DOG CENTER FOR THE BLIND
ORGANIZER: ISRAEL GUIDE DOG CENTER FOR THE BLIND
EVENT DATE: Nov 07, 2010
ISRAEL GUIDE DOG CENTER FOR THE BLIND wrote -Gadi Yarkoni was blinded in action during the first Lebanon War. He is running the NYC Marathon on November 7th, to raise awareness about the obstacles that confront more than 27,000 blind Israelis. He will be tethered to Noach Braun, the co-founder of the center – and together they hope to raise $250,000 to provide the mobility, independence and companionship that only a well trained guide dog can provide.
Gadi knew that he wanted to get on with his life and the first step toward independence was getting a guide dog. He credits his guide dog, Timmy, with allowing him to resume a productive and active life. Gadi went back to the University and now works full time as a physical therapist. He is married and is raising a family.
The cost to provide a “Partnership” between a blind person and a guide dog is $25,000, but the center provides this service FREE of charge. Please help Gadi and Noach to achieve their goal.
