iStand Parent Network

2015 Fall Strategic Summit

The iStand Parent Network 2015 Fall Strategic Summit on International Parental Child Abduction: Bringing Children Home and Preventing IPCA

is a four-day Summit to redefine the issue of International Parental Child Abduction and to define strategies to improve accountability and responsiveness from the U.S. government, foreign nations and public and private actors who have a stake in bringing children home.

25 parents of internationally kidnapped or wrongfully retained children and advocates from across the nation will assemble for four days of strategic planning and capacity-building sessions and empowerment workshops facilitated by experts, including:

  • Redefining IPCA: Changing the Terms and Engaging a Broader Audience
  • Accountability and Responsiveness in Federal Agencies
  • The Twin-Trauma of IPCA and Parental Alienation
  • Social Media Can Help
  • Staying Healthy Enough to Fight
  • Focused Faith: Finding Your Center

The closing session features a   moonlight lantern release    to honor the children, parents and families who are suffering through parental child abductions.

To help ensure maximum parent access and participation, we are seeking charitable donations to help us fully fund the Summit!

We must raise $5,000 in 30 days to make it happen!

A  minimum contribution of $100 is suggested, but we welcome all contributions.

About iStand Parent Network

iStand Parent Network is a coalition of organizations banded together to prevent and remedy international parental child abduction (IPCA). We are parents and advocates for children who are kidnapped or wrongfully held from their American home by another parent.

Three children are illegally abducted from America by a parent every day. The U.S. Dept. of State reports that at least 1,000 children are taken every year. International Parental Child Abduction is a crime that victimizes and separates children from loving parents.

For more than 20 years, parents have fought for their children in isolation, believing they were the "only ones". Now we are a growing movement, and our organizations collaborate, embracing and supporting parents and advancing a common agenda that brings children home.

Our American children are kidnapped or held in India, Australia, Brazil, Canada, Cyprus, Ecuador, Germany, Greece, Japan, Ireland, Israel, Italy, Mexico, New Zealand, Poland, Russia, Tanzania, Tunisia, South Africa, Scotland, Switzerland, Yemen and many, many other countries.

Coalition partners frequently engage the leadership in the U.S. House of Representatives and the U.S. Senate. In July 2015, coalition leadership accepted an invitation by the Senate Committee on the Judiciary to conduct a briefing on law enforcement response to IPCA.

Coalition members have testified before Congressional committees in both chambers and regularly meet with senior officials at the U.S. Dept. of State Office of Children's Issues. We are pressing for consideration in the U.S. Depts. of Justice and Homeland Security, and forging relationships with a network of attorneys and international institutions.

To directly engage and empower parents to advocate for their children, iStand Parent Network hosts a weekly support conference call, and hosts an Annual Conference, Embassy Walk and Congressional Education Day each spring.

Every day, our parent advocates push through the pain, fear and uncertainty to fight for their children's return and for international legal and public policy reform to spare other parents and children the suffering of international parental child abduction. We give hope to each other, as together we STAND until all our children come home.

Please help us raise $5,000 to fully fund the Summit and to empower parents with strategies, resources and ideas to bring our children home.

The Summit will be held at Gulf Sunset Oasis near Clearwater, FL. To keep costs down, iStand carpool volunteers will drive from several cities, and we are working to secure discounted airline rates.
