There is a major Gender Gap in Technology. Experts don't know why or how to fix it.
Enter...ITgirls. ITgirls takes a social coding approach to solving the gender gap in tech. The platform will be built leveraging the latest WebRTC technology so girls get a similar experience as if they went on OOVOO. They can code in tandem to build apps or websites using html5, CSS, JAVA, Ruby on Rails & leverage GitHub to share their code with the public or fork a branch of their own.
Girls ages 8-12, known as Tweens, spend an average of 7.5 hours / day online. The 20 million or so that reside in the US are huge consumers of technology. ITgirls aims to flip the dynamic by making them also huge creators of technology. "By engaging, encouraging, & educating young girls, we not only give them the cognitive development, but the confidence in their skills & abilities to go further in their formal education in a STEM field. If we want more female Computer Science grads in 2022, it starts now & it starts with ITgirls."
