EVENT DATE: Nov 06, 2010
They are both Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery (also known as "ENT") residents at Indiana University School of Medicine (IUSM) and are running to support their department's outstanding humanitarian efforts in Kenya. Your donation will go directly towards providing medical supplies needed for the surgical care of patients undergoing head and neck surgical procedures by visiting IUSM ENT faculty and residents at Kenya's Moi University Hospital.
Background on the The IU-Kenya ENT Program:
In 1989, Indiana University School of Medicine and Moi University School of Medicine agreed to join together to develop leaders in health care for both the U.S. and Africa. That mission inspired this team to provide invaluable training to future generations of health care providers on both continents.
The Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery department has joined the ranks of Indiana University departments involved in the IU-Kenya Partnership. Dr. Susan Cordes travelled to Kenya in February 2009 and November 2009. A trip focused on head and neck surgery in February 2010 included Dr. Cordes, Dr. Weisberger, and Dr. Moore as well as IU resident, Dr. Chris Chacko.
Aaron will be travelling to Kenya for two weeks in February 2011 and will participate in surgery, clinics, and teaching. Mark also plans to travel to Kenya during his chief residency year in 2012.
