Few things in life bring me as much joy as hiking out on a trail in the mountains. I'm committed to this 50-mile hike around the Mohonk Preserve, New York State's largest visitor- and member-supported nature preserve filled with 8,000 acres of cliffs, forests, fields, ponds and streams and serving 165,000 visitors each year. Help me support this beautiful natural region described by The Nature Conservancy as "one of Earth's last great places".
Your donation will support Mohonk Preserve’s mission of protecting the Shawangunk Mountains region and inspiring people to care for, enjoy and explore their natural world. Mohonk Preserve is the largest member and visitor-supported nature preserve in New York State. Mohonk Preserve will use the funds to secure a permanent route for the Shawangunk Ridge Trail, a 70-mile, regional connector trail which links the Appalachian Trail in High Point State Park, NJ, with the Wallkill Valley Rail Trail in Rosendale, NY.
New York / New Jersey Trail Conference
Since 1920, the New York-New Jersey Trail Conference has partnered with parks to create, protect, and promote a network of over 2,150 miles of public trails. Your donation will also support their conservation fund which has a long history of acquiring land in support of important trails and the natural environment stretching from New York City to the Delaware Water Gap, to the Catskills and beyond. The Shawangunk Ridge Trail is one of these trails being developed and maintained by Trail Conference volunteers.
