EVENT DATE: Oct 13, 2013
Dear Friends and Family,
Both of us are overwhelmed with joy to start the next chapter in our lives, and so excited to see everyone in one place at our wedding! We have come to realize that we are in a unique position to do something that means the world to us. Instead of registering for gift registries, we have chosen 2 charities that are very close to our hearts.
MPN is an organization that is very important to Jackie's family. In March of 2007, Jackie's grandmother Dale Jarrett lost a long battle fighting Myelofibrosis. This rare disease exists in roughly 30,000 patients in the United States. MF is a chronic bone marrow disorder in which excessive scar tissue forms in the bone marrow and impairs its ability to produce normal blood cells. MPN funds research towards finding the cause, treatment options, and one day, a cure. Since this difficult disease isn't as wide spread as others, funding and awareness is considerably low.
35 million suffer from Alzheimer's worldwide. Within the next 50 years, that number is expected to skyrocket to as many as 115 million people. The Alzheimer’s Association is the leader in promoting advocacy, enhansing care and support, and accelerating research. Ramien's grandfather Donald Oberhauser lost a very sudden battle with Alzheimer's. The thought of being able to ease the sting of this mentally crippling disease, and possibly finding a cure means everything to us.
Please donate to these charities instead of giving us a gift for our wedding. We are so grateful for each and everyone of you. Thank you so much for all that you can give.
