The Jackson Square neighborhood of Boston is located at the edge of Roxbury and Jamaica Plain. Over 40 years ago, this neighborhood consisted largely of vacant parcels of land, where structures had been demolished to make way for a new highway that was never built. Today, after decades of redevelopment, there are both affordable and market-rate housing being built in this once neglected neighborhood of Boston.
But a strong community needs more than just housing units. It needs a safe, affordable place for youth and families to learn, grow, and succeed.
The solution is the Jackson Square Recreation Center -- a two floor recreational facility with an indoor ice rink and turf field. Young people throughout Boston's neighborhoods can use the facility year-round for organized and unstructured recreational activities. Research shows that out-of-school activities are a vital component to overall youth development.
With your support, we can help bring this much-needed community resource to Jackson Square.
