Jacob's Medical Expenses
Organized by: Sharon Sorrell
As many of you know Jacob got sick around Thanksgiving. He had high fevers, slept all the time, no appetite, headaches, blurry vision. He was sent home from school a couple times a week because he just wasn't feeling well. He would come home and sleep. He showed no interest in anything. A few days after Thanksgiving, Jacob's doctor admitted him to the hospital for 5 days. He had mri's, mvi's, ct's, blood work out the Ying yang. Jake was diagnosed with a blood clot in his jugular (CVST Cerebral Venus Sinus Thrombosis). He was immediately started on lovenox twice a day. We were told that this would be his life for the next 3 months or so. That would depend on how future blood work and scans showed. Jacob had a follow-up yesterday. His scans show that the clot has gotten bigger and they hAve found another clot. His blood work came back saying that his blood is "sticky". This now means he will be on the injections longer and on a higher dose. Now we have more frequent visits to All Children's Hospital in St.Pete for closer monitoring. We arent sure how long he will be needing to take the injections. He has to be watched for pain, any weird feelings, unexplained swelling, and keep him from getting injured. Our family thanks you especially Jacob.
