BENEFITING: JOE ANDRUZZI FOUNDATION
ORGANIZER: JOE ANDRUZZI FOUNDATION
EVENT: Boston Marathon 2014
EVENT DATE: Apr 21, 2014
Here I go again! While I had always said that the 2013 Boston Marathon would be my last, the events that stopped me from crossing the finish line last year mean that I need to come back and finish what I started.
On April 15, 2013 I was having the best marathon I had ever run. I'd exceeded my fundraising goal, raising over $5,800 for the Joe Andruzzi Foundation, Matt had jumped in at 13 and helped get me over Heartbreak Hill, I'd seen my friends cheering for me at mile 23 and was on my way to taking almost 45 minutes off my last marathon time.
That all changed in a moment. After being stopped at 25.5 and then miraculously finding my family amongst the chaos we were all together. A little beat up, but we were together and that was all that mattered. By the next morning when I woke up, it was hard to believe what had happened. The only thing I knew for sure was that I would run again in 2014.
And here I am, ready to get started! I am running for the Joe Andruzzi Foundation again this year, I couldn't imagine a more deserving charity to support. By providing financial support to families affected by cancer they are doing their part to help families spend time together and tackle cancer head on. Families can concentrate on keeping an UpBeat attitude and defeating their disease and not on having to worry about where the next mortgage payment is coming from.
And now I need your help to get me back to the starting line! My goal is to raise $5,000 to help families in need. Any amount is appreciated and thank you in advance for your support!
