I'm giving up my birthday for Partners in Health.

That's right, I don't really like the number 28, so I thought why not give up one day to the people in dire need of medication and clean water.

PIH has been around since 1987, first in Haiti and further expanding to other countries.
PIH has been the world leader in developing and demonstrating the effectiveness of clinical regimens and community-based strategies for combating MDR-TB in resource-poor settings.

Their mission - At its root, our mission is both medical and moral. It is based on solidarity, rather than charity alone. When a person in Peru, or Siberia, or rural Haiti falls ill, PIH uses all of the means at our disposal to make them well—from pressuring drug manufacturers, to lobbying policy makers, to providing medical care and social services. Whatever it takes. Just as we would do if a member of our own family—or we ourselves—were ill.

TB is a curable disease but developing countries do not have the access to the proper medical care or are unable to pay for the medication needed. Yet TB kills 5,000 people every day, nearly 2 million people per year. More than 2 billion people, almost one-third of the world’s population, are infected with the microbes that cause TB.

Let's take this opportunity to help provide for the men, woman and children affected with TB, HIV/AIDS and other infectious diseases.

Help me reach my goal of $2800.
