Hey everybody! I'm Jake Vaught. I am from Liberty, Texas, or "The Big L" as my family and I so fondly call it. I'm currently a graduating senior at Trinity University in San Antonio, Texas. After graduating, I plan to serve all summer at Still Water Sports Camp in the Texas hill country, where I will serve for my third consecutive summer. Many people who know me often hear me raving about Still Water, but you may not know what it really is. Still Water is an overnight sports, adventure, and leadership camp open to anyone ages 5-18. Still Water ministers to culturally and economically diverse kids and fundraises to scholarship 50% of our campers. SW presents to over 10,000 students in the public school system and work with organizations such as FCA, YFC, Young Life, and others across the state during the year to stay connected with kids. SW staff to camper ratio is about 3-1. We intentionally have smaller camps (75-80 kids) where college students and families serve together as our staff and leadership teams. This is where I come in! As a camp counselor, or "Tribal Leader," I have the amazing opportunity to spend precious time going crazy at camp with kids from all over the state, from all different backgrounds and beliefs, and I get to show them what it means to follow Christ. As a Tribal Leader, it is my goal to be "Jesus in tennis shoes," or at least as close as I can get! It is amazing to me that God has used me to have such an enormous impact in these kids' lives and to shine as a light for His use, so that our campers may have a positive influence and direction in their lives. In July of 2014, I worked one week with Still Water, and it was the best week of my life. Things were happening in my heart that I had never felt before. I heard messages and testimonies from staff and even kids that were changing me. Although I went to camp solely focused on serving others, I left feeling like the camp was meant to change my life! Since working with Still Water three summers ago, my life has completely changed, and I am constantly chomping at the bit to give the same opportunity to Still Water campers. In evaluation of my upcoming summer, I've determined the best investment of my time is to serve with Still Water Camps. Similar to others who serve on mission trips both close and abroad, I've been asked to help cover my costs to the ministry. I am trying to raise $500 for every two week term that I serve. Would you consider helping me by donating here and helping me go on mission with Still Water? Any contribution that you can make is greatly appreciated, and if you can't make a monetary donation then I will gladly accept your prayers for Still Water's mission and an amazing summer! If you have any questions for me about camp or how to get involved, please don't hesitate to contact me. Thanks so much for your consideration, Jake Vaught Acts 4: 32-35
