Jamaica Service Trip
Organized by: Sarah Ostroski
My name is Sarah Ostroski and I am a Senior Medical Imaging major at Misericordia University. I will be taking part in a winter service trip to Jamaica this January through my school's campus ministry. During this week long stay we will be residing in local hostiles on the island and providing our service in some of the following ways: working with children in orphanages, assisting in the building/re-building of churches, interacting with HIV/AIDS positive individuals, and helping out at food distribution centers. Our service activities will not be limited to just this list and will encompass a wide variety of service opportunities. Prior to this trip, I had never participated in service abroad and was enlightened to finally get the opportunity to do so. Partaking in this service trip will not only afford me the opportunity to selflessly provide my service to those who need it, but it will also open my eyes to a way of life I've never lived before. While in Jamaica, I will also have the opportunity to explore my personal faith through daily prayer sessions and reflection. All in all, this Jamaica service trip will be a life changing experience and I will be returning to America with a much deeper appreciation for love, mercy, and service then I had before.
