The 5KBR is a 5K race in conjunction with the Mercedes Marathon weekend in Birmingham, Alabama. This year, the 5KBR has given us the opportunity to raise money for Kid One Transport, a local non-profit that provides children and expectant mothers who do not have realiable transportation, free rides to their medical appointments. Kid One transported over 22,000 clients in 2011 and one by one is transporting Alabama's children to better health. Each team has the opportunity of running in the honor of one of our Kid One kids. Jambalaya Jamboree, our team name, is working to raise $1,000 for Kid One Transport through the 2012 5KBR race. Our team is running in honor of Jesiah, a four year old little girl who needs Kid One to help her get to her medical and dental appointments. Jesiah's favorite character is Princess Tiana, from the movie The Princess and the Frog - set in New Orleans. We are planning a New Orleans-themed celebration for the 5KBR in honor of Jesiah and the great service that Kid One provides for her and other needy children and expectant mothers in Alabama. I hope you will help us by donating today!
