A 2.4 mile swim, 112 mile bike and 26 mile run back-to-back. I've been told many times by friends and family that I'm nuts and that one of those would be too much for them. To prepare - that means 10-20 hour training weeks. On top of what some might call a 'time-consuming' job and an attempt at having a social life is going to make this year pretty busy!
The KMD 2017 Copenhagen Ironman will be my first (having only done one Olympic distance before!) and I hope that you donate for the incredible charity I'm running it for.
Save The Children do an incredible job worldwide; giving children a healthy start in life, the opportunity to learn and protection from harm. With 99p in every £1 going towards activities to benefit children, or to future fundraising efforts, it's no wonder the charity helped 17.5 million children 2015 alone.
So many of us are so privileged to live the lives we do and it's amazing how much even a small donation can help. Here are just a few ways your donations are used:
- £10 could fund malaria testing for 145 children
- £25 could buy a bicycle for a health worker, so they can bring life-saving care to the most remote communities
- £50 could buy a stethoscope for a midwife
- £100 could buy water purification solution to give 1,000 people enough safe drinking water for five days
