BENEFITING: AEGIS TRUST, US
Breaking cycles of hatred through education. The Champions Walk for Peace started in Kenya to unite all people that stand against hatred and prejudice.
Target: to raise $250,000 to reach 10,000 children in Kenya AND initiate the Champions Walk as a global movement, with an annual walk. We have raised $90,000 so far. Give from $3 upwards, whatever you feel appropriate.
Join the walk by making a contribution to signal your support, to be a Peacemaker, to be a Champion! Your support will encourage us to keep going during those 500 long miles...
Between 15 July and 6 August, a group of World Champion athletes are walking 522 miles through Kenya's troubled North Rift Valley. To raise money to kickstart peace education.
Now, we do run at our own pace from time time, but against people like Olympic gold medallists Wilson Kipsang Kiprotich and Ezekiel Kemboi, or, for that matter, multiple world-record holder Tegla Loroupe and sporting legend Haile Gebrselassie, it will feel like running up an elevator backwards.
So, we're spreading our 500 miles run (or walk) for peace between now and 1 November 2015. We started in Kenya with the athletes themselves, and will carry on globally!
Why are we doing this?
Aegis has proven that peace education works in Rwanda - a country torn apart by genocide 21 years ago and now leading Africa in stability and prosperity. We want to take this to other countries.
