Hello and thank you for visiting! I'm thrilled to be running the Boston Marathon 2018 for Team Baptist! It's an exciting challenge and I can't wait to do it with your support :)
I've been a nurse anesthetist with NEBH for a total of 5 years now. Working in and around the operating room, I see every day how the skill and dedication of our surgeons and staff continue to make us a world-renowned center for orthopedic care. And it's a reputation we've earned in a setting that feels very much of and for the community, something I truly love about our hospital on "the hill." Whether you're a patient, a loved one, or a coworker... at the Baptist we're all here for each other. It's a standard of care and sense of community like no other hospital I've worked in. This is what makes my job so rewarding!
So I'm proud to be running for a hospital where the people make it such a great place work, and for the patients who trust us to deliver outstanding care to help them live better, healthier lives.
I moved to Boston in 2009 from Minnesota, and I can still remember the culture shock of it all... perhaps never more than on my first Marathon Monday. A holiday? But over time, I've come to feel very connected to this race. Boston is home for me now. And I ran the marathon once, in 2012, pushing myself to the limits in the 85+ heat, ultimately coming up short of my goal. It was an unexpectedly moving experience, and painful! But nothing compared to the very next year, when unspeakable tragedy struck Boston, and I found myself taking care of a severely wounded bombing victim in the OR. I was grateful to be in a position to help so directly, but I'll never forget that awful day, nor how our community responded with such resolve.
When I was new to this city, I marveled at the history and spectacle of the Boston Marathon. Now I've come to more appreciate the race's depth. I understand what it means to me, and to the people of Boston... the runners, the spectators, and those who draw inspiration to push themselves, whether it's for an upcoming race, a worthy cause, or just to get moving again for the things that really matter.
Thanks for your time here and I appreciate any support you can offer!
