Cancer has negatively affected too many people in my life. It is a disease that knows no race, religion, sex, or socio-economic status. I have seen many family members, friends, parents of friends, friends of my parents, classmates, and teachers suffer from its different forms. The one common denominator though is that everyone who has cancer is engaged in a constant battle and fight against the disease.
When I first heard of Haymakers for Hope, I knew instantly that I wanted to participate. If people can battle this life-threatening disease for months and years of their lives, then I could definitely get in the ring and take a few punches for one night. I have been training for my fight for 3-5 days a week since late January, and never before have I been through such a grueling mental and physical challenge. Boxing has been an awesome life experience so far that has taken me to new levels of both confidence and humility.
If you or someone you know has been affected by cancer in any way, please support me when I step into the ring on May 17th at the House of Blues in Boston. I have pledged to raise a minimum of $2000 for the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, but with your support I hope to greatly exceed that figure. Your donation, however large or small, will be another positive step in the fight against cancer. I’ll see you on fight night!
